The Capital Projects team within Fonterra’s Technical Excellence function plays a critical role in delivering the infrastructure and operational capability needed to achieve some of Fonterra’s most important strategic goals.
We are looking for Engineering Design Managers to join our team and lead the design development of a variety of exciting projects. These roles are available in Hamilton, Auckland and Whareroa (Taranaki), offering the opportunity to make a tangible impact within our high-performing and collaborative team.
In these positions, you will:
Lead the design process from concept to detailed designs, ensuring reviews are completed, and changes are controlled.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality design solutions.
Manage engineering reviews, track schedules, and oversee design teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Provide technical and leadership support, managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

About You | Ko wai koe
You’ll bring extensive experience in design and project management, coupled with a proactive and adaptable approach to managing complex projects. Your ability to collaborate, influence, and solve problems will set you up for success in this role.
We want to hear from you if you have:
Experience in engineering design, architectural design, or capital projects.
A qualification in Architecture or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or Process) – Project Management qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
Excellent problem-solving and prioritisation abilities, enabling you to manage competing demands effectively.
