Gippsland Victoria is home to our Darnum site. Our farmers milk is made into a range of nutritional powders and whole, skim and fat-filled milk powders for domestic and international export markets.
Your Purpose
This Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily maintenance operations to ensure maximum plant availability while maintaining equipment to the highest standard. The Maintenance Supervisor will work closely with production personnel, Contractors and tradespeople to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions. Additionally, this position will lead a team of maintenance trades, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain efficiency and productivity across all maintenance activities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage, Coach and develop the mechanical maintenance team performance, succession planning, and talent development. Including rostering, payroll & leave management
- Oversee and coordinate daily and weekly maintenance execution, ensuring work is planned, completed efficiently, and aligns with site objectives, contractor management, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Contractors and other departments, such as production, quality, environmental, and engineering, to coordinate maintenance activities and prioritize tasks based on operational needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, reports, and equipment history, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Monitor equipment performance, identify potential issues, and implement appropriate maintenance strategies to prevent breakdowns and minimize disruptions.
- Develop and implement the Asset Care Strategy, including Autonomous Maintenance for process equipment, to enhance reliability and performance.
- Continuously improve maintenance management systems, preventative maintenance strategies, and downtime reduction through effective SOPs, root cause analysis, and inventory management.
About You
We are seeking individuals with a strong background in maintenance or trades, combined with proven leadership skills and the ability to effectively lead a team. This role is ideal for a seasoned tradesperson or maintenance professional who is looking to transition away from shift work and hands-on tasks.
You can also demonstrate:
- Trade qualification in a relevant field (e.g., mechanical, electrical) or a background in engineering is highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or similar role in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of maintenance principles, practices, and equipment reliability
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of technicians
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with MEX CMMS or similar maintenance management software
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
