About us | He kupu mō mātou
The H&S Business Partnering team supports the management of health and safety within COO (office of the Chief Operating Officer) and forms part of the Global Health, Safety, and Wellbeing team. Across COO, the support provided by the team involves working with leaders and teams within NZ Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Global Engineering & Technology, Food Safety & Quality and supporting business units.
The team has embarked on a significant transformation programme to continue a journey of improvement in health and safety, and is working with the business to embed new mindsets and practices including the implementation of Human and Organisational Performance and operational learning approaches.
About the opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga
Reporting into the GM Global Critical Risk & Process Safety, the H&S Critical Systems & Assurance Lead will play a vital role in supporting Fonterra’s commitment to maintaining the effectiveness of its critical Health & Safety systems through independent assurance activities.
Drawing on your technical leadership capability, you will provide subject matter expertise in assessing the performance, compliance and robustness of these systems.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by enhancing the safety culture across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Critical Systems Management
- Conduct independent assurance reviews to evaluate the effectiveness and compliance of Fonterra’s critical HSW systems.
- Provide robust analysis of system vulnerabilities, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Assurance Activities
- Develop and communicate assurance findings, insights, and recommendations to operational teams and governance bodies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure assurance outcomes drive meaningful improvements.
Continuous Strategic Improvement
- Facilitate lessons learned and insights from assurance reviews to inform system enhancements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure assurance insights support broader risk reduction strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with Group Risk, Global Engineering & Technical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure assurance findings align with organisational objectives.
About you | Mōu
With 7+ years of experience in frontline Health and Safety critical systems management or H&S system design in complex industrial environments, you have a proven track record in developing and implementing risk control and assurance frameworks for critical H&S processes. Your expertise in enhancing system performance and compliance will be key to driving safety improvements.
Critical skills and experience required:
- Evidence of unit standard certification for typical critical processes (i.e., permitting or confined spaces)
- Advanced understanding of assurance methodologies and their application to critical systems
- Ability to simplify complex risk concepts.
- Strategic collaboration and risk evaluation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate findings to diverse stakeholders.
