About us | He kupu mō mātou

The Global Critical Risk and Process Safety team supports the management of health and safety within COO (office of the Chief Operating Officer) and forms part of the Global Health, Safety, and Wellbeing team. Across COO, the support provided by the team involves working with leaders and teams within NZ Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Global Engineering & Technology, Food Safety & Quality and supporting business units.

The team has embarked on a significant transformation programme to continue a journey of improvement in health and safety, and is working with the business to embed new mindsets and practices including the implementation of Human and Organisational Performance and operational learning approaches.

About the opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga

 At Fonterra, safety is paramount, and this role is at the forefront of ensuring the effectiveness,  and resilience of our critical health and safety systems. Through independent assurance activities, you'll provide confidence that our safety frameworks are operating at the highest standard.

This is more than just assurance- it’s about taking a holistic, strategic approach to risk management. 

You’ll oversee the design and implementation of assurance frameworks that drive meaningful change, embedding risk reduction into broader business processes. By assessing our risk profile and shaping improvements, you'll ensure that safety remain at the core of everything we do.

As the technical expert and subject matter leader, you’ll develop robust assurance processes, implement systems, and lead compliance and effectiveness assessments - playing a pivotal role in maintaining Fonterra’s commitment to world-class health and safety.

About you | Mōu 

You're a risk expert with a strong background in critical risk management and assurance frameworks. Whether you come from a health and safety background or another complex industrial setting, you understand how to design, implement, and oversee assurance processes that strengthen system resilience.

You bring:

• 7+ years of experience in H&S critical systems management, assurance, or H&S system design within complex industrial settings.
• Expertise in risk control frameworks, assurance methodologies, and strategic risk evaluation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear insights and recommendations.
• A collaborative approach, working with stakeholders to align assurance activities with business objectives.
• Exceptional communication skills, translating assurance findings into actionable improvements.
