In Global Markets - Ingredients (GMI), we operate an integrated business encompassing dairy in the ingredients and foodservice channels to generate value for Fonterra. We have a clear mission to deepen our position as a world-leading provider of high-value, sustainable, innovative dairy ingredients. With offices across North Asia, the Middle East, APAC, Europe, LATAM and the USA we are focused on partnering with customers to bring NZ dairy to the world.

About the opportunity

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to step into a high-impact, fast-paced trading role at Fonterra. As a Trader, you’ll be at the forefront of financial markets, making real-time decisions that directly influence the Co-op’s performance. In this role you will:

Execute trades and manage market pricing strategies to maximise value for Fonterra.
Analyse dairy market trends, sales data, and risk factors to inform trading decisions.
Work closely with brokers, banks, and financial markets, operating at a global scale.
Join a high-performing, close-knit team that values open communication, resilience, and strategic thinking.
Thrive in an environment where decisions are tested by the market in real time, requiring confidence, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.

About you

We’re looking for a decisive, high-energy individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and has the courage to take calculated risks. If you’re a natural problem solver with a strong commercial mindset, this could be the role for you. To be successful in this role you will bring:

A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline preferred.
Previous experience in commodity trading, FX, interest rates, or financial markets preferred.
Strong analytical skills and a keen interest in market structures and financial instruments.
Ability to operate autonomously, make quick decisions, and adapt to market shifts.
Excellent stakeholder management skills to build credibility with external financial partners and internal teams.
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with trading systems or Bloomberg Terminal (training provided).
