Fonterra’s Takanini site is our largest domestic manufacturing site, located in South Auckland. Operating 24/7, we produce a range of fresh dairy products enjoyed by Kiwis every day.

About the opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga
Fonterra Oceania is seeking a proactive HSW Advisor to support our HSW Manager and site in fulfilling our health, safety, and wellbeing obligations at our Takaanini facility. We value strong communication, exceptional administrative skills, and hands-on experience in large, complex environments. While FMCG or food industry experience is highly regarded, it is not essential. Key responsibilities:
- Support the HSW Manager in implementing HSW programs, processes, and procedures (including IWS where appropriate) at our Takanini site.
- Assist the Pillar Lead with implementing the HSE pillar.
- Contribute to HSW site reporting with accurate and timely documentation.
- Undertake general HSW activities including risk assessments, incident investigations (Rapid Learning Reviews and Learning Reviews), and site inspections.
- Chair HSR committee meetings and provide expert HSW advice.
- Deliver HSW training programs to teams.
- Support the injury management team with investigations.
- Assist in developing and reviewing SOPs and One Point Lessons (OPMs).
- Act as the HSW Subject Matter Expert (SME) on capital projects.
- Maintain compliance with established programs (e.g., chemical management) at the Takanini site
About you | Mōu
We are looking for candidates who have a solid background in Health and Safety within a similar complex operational environment. This role requires a strong communicator and team player with exceptional administrative skills and the ability to lead and influence others. You can also demonstrate:
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience working in large, complex operational environments.
- At least 3+ years of experience delivering training to teams.
- Essential ICAM training or equivalent incident investigation certification.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
- A collaborative and authentic leadership style.
- Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety are highly regarded
