About us | He kupu mō mātou
Established in 1985, our Eltham Collingwood Street site in the heart of Taranaki which produces over 65,000 tonne per year of cheese products for FMCG markets here in New Zealand and abroad. It is the largest consumer and foodservice cheese manufacturing plant in the Asia Pacific region and is the home of cheddar, sliced and grated cheese. Along with these, we produce more than 350 individual specification products for Mainland, Anchor, Valumetric, Perfect Italiano, Meadow Fresh and Chesdale.
About the opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga
We are looking for an Environmental Manager for our Collingwood Street site, where you will lead and manage the environmental operations and compliance function. Taking accountability for the environmental management system on site and reporting through to the Site Operations Manager, you'll demonstrate daily our commitment to New Zealand's natural resources.
Inspiring a team along the way, you'll be leading direct and indirect reports to ensure environmental compliance, development and implementation of the environmental management system (ISO 14001) and a critical focus on continuous improvement. As a member of the site lead team, the Environmental Manager plays an integral role in the strategic direction setting, leadership and delivery of the overall regional strategy.

You’ll be an experienced leader with a proven environmental background. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced and complex environment with a passion for compliance and environmental management. With a natural ability to build high performing teams and influence diverse groups of stakeholders, you will build and strengthen key relationships across the business and local community organisations.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- People leadership experience including ability to engage, inspire and coach others
- Knowledge of and experience in compliance and RMA including ISO standards
- Demonstrated experience with environmental risk management as well as sound understanding of wastewater management
- Excellent communication, relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to influence and work collaboratively cross-functionally
- Tertiary qualification/ extensive experience in a relevant field such as Science, Environmental Management or Geography would be beneficial.
- Experience working with a broad range of people and communities - you’ll be working with local farmers, Iwi, council and local communities so the ability to engage and communicate well is key
